Cedar will be hosting its 18th Annual Gala Auction on May 12th.  The synergy between Cedar International School and the BVI community has ensured healthy growth for both over the years. From Cedar's modest beginnings in a one-room school house to its healthy student body of over 230 students and the implementation of the International Baccalaureate programmes, the generosity and support of the BVI community has helped cultivate the school's growth. This has, in turn, helped Cedar International School meet some of the needs of the territory.

The Gala Auction is a major fundraiser that enables the school to enhance its campus and programmes in ways that the school could not fund with tuition alone. Through sponsorships, advertisements and the generosity of individual and corporate donors, the auction offers unique opportunities while helping Cedar achieve its mission to provide quality international education to children in the BVI.  We hope you will continue to celebrate our students and our school by supporting this year's auction.

This year, our focus is on Science and Technology: bolstering our resources to keep Cedar students on the cutting edge of learning and prepare them for success in the global economy. To that end, proceeds from this year's auction will assist with the following campus wide, capital goals:

• Switching from a traditional computer lab to a mobile "laptop" lap to allow for seamless integration of technology into the classroom environment.
• Improving science labs with proper fume vents and other equipment to expand our secondary Science curriculum.
• Upgrading Cedar's internet connection to better support our recent investments in technology, such as SmartBoards, our cloud-based information management system, Google Apps for Education, online IB courses, and our new mobile lab!

Other improvement projects on our wish list include:

• Finishing the roof and exterior of the new building.
• Improving our kindy play area by replacing the sand with a rubberized surface to make it more of a hygienic, center-based play space that becomes an extension of the classroom.

In addition to these capital projects, we also wish to increase scholarship offerings to attract top local students in the territory so that more students can benefit from the high quality, international education Cedar offers.
